Choosing a vintage engagement ring, without regrets

Start with how the ring will be worn. A ring worn daily on a working hand wants a low profile, secure claws and a stone at 8 or above on the Mohs scale. A ring for occasions can take an emerald or an opal comfortably.

Ask whether the ring can be resized, and by how much. Rings with full eternity settings, engraved bands or millegrain edges are limited, and we state the resizing range on every product page rather than promising it can be adjusted later.

Vintage engagement rings can offer exceptional value, but rarity, provenance, craftsmanship and antique diamond cuts can also command a premium. Set a budget by what you want to wear, not by an assumption that older automatically means cheaper.
