Buying jewelry you cannot hold, without the guesswork

Every piece we sell is one of one and thousands of miles away. A twenty minute video call closes that distance: a specialist holds the piece in daylight, magnifies the marks, and answers plainly about condition, fit and what the piece is not. It is free, and there is no obligation to buy.

What happens, step by step

  1. Step 01

Pick a time in your own timezone

Choose a piece, or several, and pick a slot. Our booking page detects your timezone and shows times that suit the American morning and afternoon, because our specialists work into the Dutch evening for exactly this reason.

  2. Step 02

    We prepare the piece

Before the call the piece comes out of the case, gets a clean where appropriate, and goes under the light with a loupe and a scale beside it. If you asked about a specific detail, we have the answer ready.

  3. Step 03

You see it live, in daylight

We hold the piece to a window and turn it. Real color, real sparkle, real proportions on a hand. Photography flatters jewelry; this does not. You will see the wear too.

  4. Step 04

    The marks, magnified

We put the hallmarks, maker's marks and any signature under macro so you can read them yourself, and we tell you what each one establishes and what it does not.

  5. Step 05

Honest answers on condition and fit

Old repairs, thinning shanks, replaced stones, whether a ring can be resized safely and how far. If something is not right for you, we will tell you, even when it costs us the sale.

  6. Step 06

    Buy, hold, or walk away

There is no pressure and no obligation. If you want it, we can reserve it while you decide, and you buy through the normal secure checkout with free insured US shipping and duties included.

Good questions to bring

  • Show me the hallmarks under magnification and tell me what they establish
  • What has been repaired, replaced or repolished on this piece?
  • How does the color read in daylight versus under a lamp?
  • Can this ring be sized to my finger, and how far is safe?
  • How does it sit on a hand? Is it high, is it heavy?
  • What would you tell me if you were talking me out of it?
