Frequently asked questions

Everything American customers ask us most often. If your question is not here, email us or book a video viewing and ask a jeweler directly.

Buying from Europe

Do you ship to the United States?
Yes. We ship to every US state, fully insured and tracked, and we send tracking details the moment a piece leaves our workshop.
Can I see a piece before I buy it?
Yes, on a private video viewing. One of our jewelers takes the piece to daylight, turns it for you, shows the hallmark, the back of the setting and any wear, and answers your questions live. There is no charge and no obligation.
Is every piece unique?
Almost all of them. Antique and estate jewelry is one of a kind, so when a piece is sold it comes off the site immediately. Pieces from our own Atelier line are newly handcrafted and can be remade to order.
Can I reserve a piece?
Yes. A piece is held for you while you complete checkout, and after a video viewing we can hold it for a short period while you decide.

Shipping and import duties

Will I pay import duty when the parcel arrives?
No. We ship to the United States on a DDP basis, which means import duties and taxes are already included in the price you paid. Nothing is collected at your door.
How long does delivery take?
Pieces are dispatched within two business days and typically arrive in the US within three to five business days after dispatch.
Is the shipment insured?
Yes, door to door, for the full purchase value, and a signature is required on delivery.
How much is shipping?
Shipping to the United States is free on every order, fully insured and tracked, with import duties and taxes already paid by us.

Returns and warranty

Can I return a piece?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, provided the piece is returned in the condition it was sent. Return shipping within the US is free and insured; contact us first and we will send the return label and instructions.
What does the one year warranty cover?
Manufacturing and setting faults for a full year from delivery, including loose stones and failed solder joints. Normal wear, accidental damage and loss are not covered.
Can you resize a ring?
Usually. A plain shank can normally move two sizes either way. Engraved, milgrained, eternity and calibre-set bands often cannot be resized without damaging the design, and we will tell you before you order.

Authenticity and condition

How do you know a piece is genuine?
Every piece is examined at our own bench by our goldsmiths and checked by our in-house gemologist. Metals are hallmarked or tested at our bench, and where Dutch law requires it, pieces are hallmarked by a recognized Dutch assay office.
Do you disclose repairs?
Always. Repairs, replaced stones, re-tipped claws and re-shanked bands are stated in the description and shown on video if you ask.
Do pieces come with paperwork?
Every order includes a written description of the metal, stones and period. Pieces over $5,000 also include a detailed valuation & authenticity report prepared by our gemologist.

Payment and security

How can I pay?
Credit card, PayPal or Apple Pay in US dollars through Mollie, a regulated European payment provider. Your card details never touch our systems.
Are prices in dollars?
Yes. Every price on the site is shown and charged in US dollars, with duties included.
Can I pay in installments or by bank transfer?
For higher value pieces we can arrange a bank transfer directly with you after a video viewing. We never ask for payment to a private account.
