Estate Pomellato
Pomellato was founded in Milan in 1967 by Pino Rabolini with the idea of jewelry made to be worn every day rather than kept for occasions. It is known for colored stones in warm gold, and for the Nudo ring introduced in 2001, whose faceted stone sits almost unset. Pomellato is a modern house, so its pieces are estate or pre-owned rather than vintage or antique.
The house
Rabolini came from a family of goldsmiths and applied ready-to-wear thinking to fine jewelry, producing in series at a time when Italian jewelry was largely made one piece at a time.
The house built its identity on color: amethyst, blue topaz, garnet, prasiolite and other stones cut in generous sizes and set in rose or yellow gold, often with a burnished rather than a bright finish.
Nudo, introduced in 2001, remains the design most often seen, followed by the Sabbia pavé line and the chunky Iconica gold pieces.
